An example of how much has changed and how much hasn’t in the Democratic Party is provided by a Trumpworld campaign ad that portrays President Joe Biden as elderly, weak, and confused.
Vice President Kamala Harris appears, and the narrator asks, “Do you think the guy who was defeated by the stairs, got taken down by his bike, lost a fight with his jacket and regularly gets lost makes it four more years in the White House?” “You do realize who’s standing behind him, don’t you? Vote for Joe Biden now and Kamala Harris the next day.
When the advertisement first appeared during the disastrous presidential debate last week, in which Joe Biden looked frail, old, and confused, it almost seemed intelligent, if a little cruel and offensive. Questioning the 81-year-old president’s health and implying that a vice president who is more frequently viewed as a liability than an asset would take over if he cannot continue would be a surefire way to frighten Democrats and undecided voters.
