At a meeting on Wednesday focused on recent airspace infractions for two of NATO’s frontline member states, allies showed support for Romania and Poland. The president of Romania, Nicușor Dan, has declared that it is “inadmissible and intolerable” for the Kremlin to continue breaching Romanian airspace after multiple drones have entered the country’s airspace in recent weeks. NATO spokesman Allison Hart stated on Wednesday that Russia was denounced for its “reckless actions” and that partners showed support for Romania and Poland in the wake of the incursions.
According to a meeting statement, “Allies reiterated that Russia bears full responsibility for the airspace violations, which are dangerous and unacceptable and demonstrate Russia’s increasing tolerance for risk.”
As Russia’s full-scale assault continues into its fifth year, they also reaffirmed their support for Ukraine.”Allies underscored that they will not be deterred by these and other irresponsible acts by Russia from their enduring commitment to Ukraine, whose security contributes to ours.”
Dan Neculăescu, Romania’s ambassador to NATO, stated that he used the meeting to emphasize the necessity for Allies to keep advancing military capabilities, which enable Bucharest and NATO to defend themselves more successfully.
