Svyatoslav has been waiting in line in his car for two hours at a gas station in southeast Moscow. The notice board in front has been updated to indicate that there is no fuel. With optimism, Svyatoslav informs me, “They say there will be petrol here.” “They simply don’t know when. Perhaps tomorrow, perhaps today.”

I question him about why he doesn’t drive away and find another location to fill up.”I don’t have enough energy to accomplish that,” Svyatoslav responds. Even if he had, Svyatoslav wouldn’t have an easy way to get fuel. There have been lengthy lines for gas this week in Moscow and other cities of Russia.Russian officials explain the unplanned repairs at oil facilities.

Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian oil sites have prompted those repairs. Earlier last summer, significant gasoline shortages were caused by such long-range strikes. Oil refineries are still being targeted at a rapid rate.
