Bryan Kohberger was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences after pleading guilty to the November 2022 murders of four Idaho students. At a hearing on Wednesday, the 30-year-old former criminology student sat through hours of painful comments from family of the victims he killed, appearing expressionless in his orange jumpsuit.

The case shook Moscow, a small college town, and enthralled a national audience for over two months until Kohberger was apprehended. I’m unable to find something redemptive concerning Mr Kohberger,” Judge Steven Hippler remarked before imposing his sentence. “His acts have made him the worst of the bad.

Kohberger stabbed housemates Kaylee Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle, and Madison Mogen to death in their off-campus residence early on November 13. Two other roommates sustained no physical injuries. Authorities worked for more than six weeks to apprehend him, utilizing a DNA sample from a knife sheath he left at the crime site, as well as phone records and security images of his white vehicle.

Kohberger, who police claim visited the students’ Moscow house numerous times before the murders, was eventually caught on December 30 at his family home in Pennsylvania. In addition, he received a 10-year term for burglary.
