According to four congressional authorities who attended the briefing and a lawmaker who received details on it later, tensions flared behind closed doors today as defense and intelligence officials briefed some lawmakers about the war in Iran. Republicans and Democrats expressed frustration about a lack of clarity and information about Trump’s strategy.

The chance of the United States sending ground troops into Iran, including what the troops might be used for and whether the United States can adequately protect them once they are deployed, was a major source of frustration during the House Armed Services Committee briefing, according to officials and lawmakers.

They didn’t provide any answers, nor did they reveal a plan, strategy, or end game. One of the congressional officials stated, “It’s unclear if there is a plan or if there is one and they wouldn’t share it with members.

The presentation was held as the war approaches its one-month mark and the Trump administration is sending more troops to the Middle East and attempting to put a stop to it diplomatically while Trump considers whether or not to station American military inside Iran.

During the briefing, Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Ala., the committee chairman, admitted in a text message to NBC News that there had been some dissatisfaction with “ALL the briefings that we have been receiving for the last several months.
