According to a local official, nighttime Russian attacks near Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, have killed at least three people, including a toddler. Just days after strikes around Ukraine claimed 21 lives, witnesses reported hearing loud explosions as missiles struck east of the capital in the early hours of Saturday.
According to Timur Tkachenko, the commander of the regional military administration, the ballistic missile strikes caused three fatalities and three injuries. He also stated that cars and apartment buildings were damaged by falling debris, and a fire started at a different building.
Mayor Vitaly Klitchko said on Telegram that emergency personnel were also battling fires at a building and gasoline tank in Kyiv. The state emergency service of Ukraine DSNS posted images of burning buildings, businesses, and garages in Kyiv along with the caption, “The number of victims is being clarified.”
President Volodymyr Zelensky has made his first trip to Belgrade, the capital of Serbia. He is scheduled to meet with Aleksandar Vučić, the president of Serbia, to talk about security concerns, economic links, and EU relations.
Vučić has declined to impose sanctions on Russia, despite Zelensky’s efforts to garner broader support for Ukraine. In addition to offering assistance to Ukraine and pledging to support its post-conflict reconstruction, Serbia is attempting to join the EU.
