Airbnb has modified its policies to restrict the tasks that owners can assign to visitors, including cleaning. According to the revised standards, hosts can now add additional “reasonable” requirements in addition to the seven normal house rules. According to Airbnb, guests who must pay a cleaning charge shouldn’t be expected to handle chores like dishwashing and bed stripping that are typically performed by a cleaner.
All reservations made on the lodging marketplace on or after November 20th will be subject to the new regulations.”We’ve heard from our community that house rules can be confusing, burdensome, and difficult to manage, but they help guests understand what hosts expect,” Airbnb told the BBC.In addition to a new guideline that makes requests reasonable and unsurprising, we have revamped them to make them simpler to find and more straightforward to set.
In general, hosts are not permitted to assign duties that “require significant effort or time, or would typically be performed by a cleaner, including stripping the bed, taking trash offsite, or washing and putting away dishes,” according to the updated guidelines on the Airbnb website. The business stated that it might make exceptions in certain situations. For instance, if there are water limitations due to the local drought, visitors may be urged to minimise their shower time.
