As Donald Trump announced that the US would impose a 20% charge as part of a new embargo on the canal, the UAE accused Iran of carrying out a “brazen” attack on two tankers in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, killing one and injuring eight.

In the midst of growing airstrikes between the two nations, the US president declared that they were striking Iran “very hard” on the third night in a row. Using Trump’s term, Iran’s foreign minister declared that Tehran would continue to be the Strait’s “GUARDIAN” in response to the imposition of a blockade. Trump maintained that a settlement was still feasible despite the fact that the conflict for control of the Strait of Hormuz threatened to sabotage attempts to end their war.

The United Arab Emirates reported on Monday night that Iranian cruise missiles hit two national tankers, killing an Indian crew member and injuring eight others, four of them critically, as tensions over the international waterway increased.

The UAE Ministry of Defense claimed in a statement on X that two of the injured were Ukrainian and six were Indian. The Ministry of Defense denounces this heinous assault as a grave transgression and blatant violation of international law that jeopardizes regional security and stability.
