The Ukrainian leader stated in an open letter to the Russian president that peace could only be achieved “through direct engagement between” Russia and Ukraine and that it would be “wrong to simply wait” until the war in Europe became the center of US attention once more. The letter highlighted Ukraine’s recent attacks on Russian territory in a defiant, even mocking, tone. After 26 years in power, age is beginning to take its toll” on Putin, Zelensky said.Ukraine suggests that you and I engage directly in order to put a stop to this conflict. Zelensky wrote, “I am suggesting a meeting.
The leader of Ukraine has made this promise before. In response, the Kremlin said Zelensky was welcome to visit Putin in Moscow, as it has done in the past. Kyiv’s public admission that the US “is fully focused on the issue of Iran” was noteworthy. Zelensky added, “It would be incorrect to merely wait till the European conflict takes center stage again.
