Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced that the Trump administration will extend its travel ban to more than 30 countries. This is the most recent limitation after an Afghan man was charged with shooting two National Guard men.

The Republican administration’s June travel ban, which prohibited citizens of 12 nations from entering the country and limited entry for those from seven more, would be strengthened by the increase. Noem had hinted at the inclusion of more nations in a social media post earlier this week.

Speaking late on Thursday, Noem told Fox News Channel host Laura Ingraham that President Donald Trump was deciding which nations will be included, but he would not elaborate. The administration has already tightened restrictions on the 19 nations that were part of the original travel ban, including Afghanistan, Somalia, Iran, and Haiti, in the wake of the National Guard shooting. Ingraham questioned Noem about if the travel restriction was going to extend to 32 nations and what nations would be added to the 19 that were previously mentioned this year.
