After nearly six months, the contentious Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which is supported by the US and Israel, claims it is ending its relief efforts in Palestinian territory. Following the six-week-old ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the organization had already ceased its three food delivery locations in Gaza.

As the primary provider of relief to the people of Gaza, the GHF sought to avoid the UN. The UN and other humanitarian organizations declined to work with its system, claiming it was dangerous and unethical.

According to the UN, hundreds of Palestinians were killed mostly by Israeli fire while searching for food amid chaotic situations close to GHF’s locations. Israel claimed that its troops fired warning rounds.

Following the successful completion of its emergency mission” and the delivery of 3 million packages containing more than 187 million meals to Palestinians, the GHF announced on Monday that it was ending its activities.

The US-led Civil-Military Coordination Centre (CMCC), which was established to assist in carrying out US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, would “adopt and expand the model GHF piloted,” according to GHF Executive Director Jon Acree.
