August 14 is World Health Organisation (WHO) Global Health Emergency Day. MPox is a viral fever with rash and lesions. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has seen thousands of cases of the virus, and it has also spread to Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Burundi.

Eighty-five percent of those who have contracted the virus are under the age of fifteen. The fact that millions of Congolese are forced to live in camps in the east of the nation due to political unrest is exacerbating the situation. The illness is being transmitted by intimate physical contact.

The virus is spreading outside of Africa and has made its way to Sweden, Pakistan, and India, which is reason for concern. Although the mpox is not as deadly as COVID-19, public health concerns would arise if it were to infect thousands of people worldwide. Questions about isolation and tracking the virus’s spread would surface, requiring government health agencies to take prompt action everywhere.
