Ukraine launched large-scale strikes against central Russia overnight, targeting a number of warehouses and an energy plant, according to Kyiv and local Russian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Saturday that Ukrainian forces have targeted two “major” logistics sites in Moscow and Tambov as part of “long-range sanctions” against Russia. The aggressor used them to supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment,” Zelenskyy said in a social media post, adding that an oil plant was also targeted. Seven people working the night shift were killed on the site,” Tambov region director Yevgeny Pervyshov said on Telegram, adding that 25 others were injured in the incident.
A drone strike on a Wildberries logistics center in Elektrostal, Moscow region, also killed one person and injured 37 others, according to authorities. A video circulating on social media purports to show a big fire at the site of a single strike.
Earlier on Saturday, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin revealed that 370 drones were heading for the Moscow region. He claimed that air defences had neutralized” the majority of the drones, with 64 destroyed. Euronews has been unable to independently verify these numbers.
