US President Donald Trump’s 15-point plan for Gaza has been rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who says there will be no military withdrawal until Hamas is “genuinely” disarmed.

A deal for the “complete disarmament” of Hamas and other armed factions in Gaza was announced last month by Trump’s Board of Peace. However, Hamas stated that Israel had to stop “all forms of aggression” and remove its troops from Gaza before it would turn over its heavy weaponry.

Since agreeing to an initial truce in the region last October, Israel has persisted in its attacks on Gaza.At a Sunday cabinet meeting, Netanyahu declared, Israel rejects the 15-point document. Israel’s military “will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed and will continue to thwart threats against our forces and our citizens” , he said.

Hamas “reaffirms its commitment” to the deal and is prepared “to engage seriously and responsibly in implementing” the 15-point plan, a Hamas spokesman told the BBC on Sunday. They urged mediators to make sure “that all parties comply with what has been agreed.
