Rescue officials said at least 30 people were killed in a Russian glide bomb strike on two civilian buses in Kramatorsk, an eastern front-line city. According to authorities, three individuals were killed in the village of Bilenke, which is part of the Kramatorsk community.
Another 18 people were wounded, according to Donetsk regional leader Vadym Filashkin, who accused Russia of targeting passenger buses in order to murder as many civilians as possible. Kramatorsk and neighbouring Slovyansk form part of a so-called fortress belt that Moscow is attempting to take as part of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s claim to the whole Ukrainian industrial region of Donbas.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky declared, “This strike will not go unanswered. In a Telegram post, he stated: “Russia is attempting to destroy all life in Donbas, and the world must react.” React harshly, just as the Russians deserve for all the lives they’ve caused.
Images released by local prosecutors showed the smouldering metal shell of the bus and some of the victims on the road, along with debris. Moscow has yet to comment on the latest strike. It comes after a sharp escalation in Russian attacks in Ukraine, as well as a high number of civilian casualties.
