The US military will be ready for a possible attack on Iran from Saturday, senior national security officials have told President Donald Trump, according to multiple US media reports. Trump hasn’t made a final choice about military action yet and is talking about it with his closest aides.
The White House is also looking at the risks of rising regional tensions and the political and military effects of holding back. However, the rhetoric has gotten worse in the last few days, even while Washington and Tehran are talking in Geneva.
“Should Iran decide not to make a deal, the United States may have to use Diego Garcia and the airfield in Fairford to stop an attack by a regime that is very unstable and dangerous,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday.Trump is getting tired of it. “Some people around him tell him not to go to war with Iran, but I think there’s a 90% chance we see kinetic action in the next few weeks,” one Trump adviser told Axios.
Sources informed US media that any US military action would probably be a huge, weeks-long campaign done with Israel. They also said that the Trump administration was “closer than most Americans realize” to starting a big conflict in the Middle East.
