Ali Bahreini, Iran’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva, warned Euronews that as the Middle East conflict rages on, any military installation “used to attack Iran,” including those on European soil, could be targeted.Ambassador Bahreini told our journalist Sasha Vakulina on Thursday, “Let me be clear, our military forces have announced a policy [that] any facility, any base which is used to attack Iran would be a legitimate target for our military force.

Ultimately, we will defend our country according to what we need to make our country secure and to make sure that there is no aggression against our country,” Bahreini said in response to the question of whether this could include locations in Europe.

Bahreini also disputed that Iran has struck civilian locations in the Gulf, claiming Tehran solely targets military objectives and blaming the US and Israel for such assaults. Journalist Jane Witherspoon of Euronews is on the ground in Dubai as the battle approaches its fourteenth day. She reports that explosions have left smoke clouds hanging over the city’s center.

President Emmanuel Macron has announced the death of a French soldier in the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq. Prior to this, Macron declared that an attack on forces engaged in a counterterrorism operation had injured six French soldiers.
