The interior minister of Ukraine declared on Sunday that two police officers had been suspended after a video of them escaping the site of the shooting in Kyiv, which resulted in six fatalities, was uploaded online.
In a supermarket in a suburban area of the Ukrainian capital on Saturday, an armed man opened fire and held hostages before being shot and killed during an attempt to apprehend him. A male and female cop wearing uniforms and yellow vests can be seen standing next to a person lying on the ground in footage released by Ukrainian media. As gunfire erupts, the officers leave, leaving behind civilians, including a toddler.
For the duration of the investigation, the cops who were captured on camera have been suspended from their jobs. Additionally, Klymenko emphasized that generalizations about the entire police force should not be made based on the actions of only two officers.
Although the shooting has now been formally classed as a terrorist incident, police have not yet established a motive. According to Klymenko, the attacker “was clearly suffering from mental instability.
