Keith Wilson, an Alberta independence enthusiast, believes Western Canada is in a league of its own. According to Wilson, the country’s economy is a force to be reckoned with, thanks to its vast oil and gas reserves, a strong agricultural industry, and a young and skilled workforce.

On October 19, the province will hold a referendum giving voters two options: vote to remain in Canada or vote to proceed with a formal, binding referendum on independence later. Despite the fact that the vote was not a simple stay or leave” decision, it remains one of the most important in recent Canadian history, as well as a critical test of national unity.

One fundamental question has emerged at the centre of the debate: would Alberta be wealthier if it became an independent country? Wilson’s response is positive.Alberta’s economy is unique. is fundamentally different from the rest of Canada’s; we have the people, institutions, and facilities to succeed,” he claims.

Alberta separatists have long claimed that being part of Canada has shortchanged the province, and that it should keep more of the oil and gas revenue within its borders rather than split it with Ottawa, saving it tens of billions of dollars.
