Rediff.com, a digital media firm based in Mumbai, has named Vishal Mehta as its new Managing Director (CMD) and Chairman.
The announcement of Rediff.com India Ltd.’s acquisition by fintech giant Infibeam Avenues preceded the appointment.
Mehta will take over for Ajit Balakrishnan, who established the business in 1996. With this decision, Rediff’s board of directors ushered in a new chapter for the business led by Mehta.
Rediff.com became a subsidiary on Tuesday when Infibeam Avenues Ltd. successfully acquired a 54.01% equity stake in the website. Rediff’s future is anticipated to change as a result of the acquisition, since Infibeam intends to use Rediff’s digital platform to grow into the financial services industry.
Rediff, with its large user base and more than 55 million monthly visits, is positioned as a valuable digital asset with tremendous growth potential.
With a wealth of knowledge in technology and digital business development, Vishal Mehta will remain Chairman and Managing Director of Infibeam Avenues Ltd. Mehta is a graduate of Cornell University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
