One of the most pressing questions surrounding models like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Midjourney since their launch is what function (if any) they will play in our daily lives. Apple is attempting to address this with Apple Intelligence, a new category formally introduced this week at WWDC 2024.
At Monday’s presentation, the company led with style; that is the nature of keynote addresses. When SVP Craig Federighi wasn’t using Hollywood magic (well, Cupertino magic) to perform parkour or skydiving, Apple was determined to show that its own models could compete with the competitors’.
Though the betas were only released on Monday, so the answer is still up in the air, the company has since disclosed some of the unique aspects of its generative AI methodology. The most important factor is scope. Many of the industry’s most well-known businesses base their business strategies on the tenet that “bigger is better.” These systems aim to function as a one-stop shop for all information worldwide.
Apple, on the other hand, approaches the category with a more practical mindset. Apple Intelligence is a more customized method of generative AI that was developed with the company’s various operating systems in mind. It’s a very Apple strategy in that it prioritizes the user experience.
