Following strong earthquakes in Venezuela, two 11-year-old boys were independently rescued from the debris of collapsed buildings within hours of one another. Rescuers applauded as the first youngster, Moises, was extracted from the twisted rubble on camera, his eyes shielded from the sun.

A few hours later, interim President Delcy Rodríguezquez declared that another 11-year-old child had been saved and shared a video of him being carried on a stretcher down a massive pile of debris on X.

At least 1,430 deaths have been reported by authorities since Wednesday’s magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes. There are still tens of thousands of individuals unaccounted for. Even though the initial earthquake occurred more than 85 hours ago, rescuers are holding out hope that individuals may still be alive, particularly if they have access to food and water beneath the debris.

Many people are still trapped inside the hundreds of buildings that collapsed as a result of the two earthquakes that occurred in 39 seconds. In an attempt to locate their loved ones, desperate relatives have been manually searching through the rubble.
