According to Lebanon’s health ministry, another day of intensive Israeli strikes has resulted in the deaths of 39 individuals. At least seven people, including a child, were killed in an Israeli hit on the southern village of Saksakiyeh, according to the ministry.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed to be “aware of reports regarding harm to uninvolved civilians” and to have been focusing on the militant group Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Since US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire agreement between the governments of Israel and Lebanon on April 16, Israeli soldiers and Hezbollah have continued to exchange gunfire.
The military claims that the majority of Israel’s airstrikes have targeted infrastructure and individuals associated with Hezbollah, the militia and political group supported by Iran. Israeli strikes in the south, including in Saksakiyeh, were reported by Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) on Saturday.
The operation “resulted in an initial toll of seven martyrs, including a girl, and 15 wounded, including three children,” according to the health ministry. Hezbollah terrorists operating from within a structure used for military purposes” were targeted in the area, according to the IDF.
