The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of the kingdom reports that an attack on an airport in Dammam, eastern Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday nite resulted in two fatalities and eight injuries. Saudi, Indian, Yemeni, Bangladeshi, and Nepalese nationals were among the injured at King Fahd International Airport, while a Saudi citizen and an Indian resident died there.
The Houthi movement in Yemen, which is supported by Iran, has frequently used drones and missiles to strike the kingdom’s airports; the GACA did not specify the nature of the attack. According to the Saudi energy ministry, debris from a drone that was caught above Eastern Province, where Dammam is located, killed two persons on Wednesday morning.
It revealed that the deceased were citizens of Nepal and the Philippines. The coalition led by Saudi Arabia that backs the Yemeni government in its conflict with the Houthis claims that four more drones were also intercepted on Wednesday nite. The Houthis have previously claimed that they are bombing Saudi airports, oil facilities, and military posts in revenge for deadly Saudi airstrikes on the territory they control in western Yemen, but they did not immediately respond.
