According to US President Donald Trump, any sanctioned oil tankers entering and leaving Venezuela will be subject to “a total and complete” blockade. He said in a post on Truth Social that the administration of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro had been labeled a foreign terrorist organization and charged it with “Terrorism, Drug Smuggling, and Human Trafficking” in addition to plundering US assets.
Therefore, today, I am ordering A TOTAL AND COMPLETE BLOCKADE OF ALL SANCTIONED OIL TANKERS going into, and out of, Venezuela,” he stated. His comments were made a week after an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela was seized by the United States. Trump’s most recent comments have not yet received a response from Venezuela.
Trump said that Venezuela was “completely surrounded by the largest Armada ever assembled in the History of South America” in his post. It will “only get bigger” and “be like nothing they have ever seen before,” he continued. Additionally, Maduro’s regime was charged by Trump with using stolen oil to “finance themselves, Drug Terrorism, Human Trafficking, Murder, and Kidnapping.
