A new paper titled “Powering Possible: AI and Energy for a Sustainable Future,” co-published by Adnoc, Masdar, and Microsoft, examines the revolutionary potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in propelling the global energy sector towards a net zero future.
While addressing the increasing energy demands of AI technology itself, the research emphasises AI’s ability to optimise energy efficiency, manage complex energy systems, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and provide carbon-free energy solutions.
The report’s authors polled over 400 experts in the domains of energy, technology, artificial intelligence, academia, and finance, including Professor Anima Anadkumar of Caltech, Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock, Omar Al Alama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, and Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies.
The report was released after the ENACT Majlis, which was called by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Masdar Chairman, and Adnoc Managing Director and Group CEO. The ENACT Majlis, a CEO conference of 60 global leaders in technology, energy, and finance, will take place in Abu Dhabi on November 3rd to identify solutions that support artificial intelligence’s rapid and sustainable expansion.
