Steve Bannon, a senior White House adviser to US President Donald Trump, met with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sexual offender, to explore opposition methods against Pope Francis. Bannon expressed his desire to “take down” the pontiff, according to files that were recently revealed by the United States Department of Justice.

Following his departure from the first Trump administration, Bannon sought to undermine the former pontiff by courting the late financier, as evidenced by messages exchanged between the two in 2019. These messages were made public in the big document leak that occurred last month.

Francis, whom Bannon regarded as an adversary to his “sovereigntist” ideology, a form of nationalist populism that swept through Europe in 2018 and 2019, had been the subject of Bannon’s intense criticism. The Department of Justice materials made public appear to demonstrate that Epstein had been assisting Bannon in developing his movement.According to a letter that Bannon sent to Epstein in June 2019, he will bring down Pope Francis. “Come on, brother, the Clintons, Xi, Francis, and the European Union.
